Captain Debra Gouveia is a graduate of Flight Safety International in Florida and Oxford Air Training School in England. She has eighteen (18) years experience in the Aviation Industry and holds the distinction of being the first female pilot to Command a Commercial Passenger Aircraft in Guyana. She has served as a pilot with Trans Guyana Aviation Ltd., Civil Aviation Department and Air Services Ltd.

In 1992, jointly with her husband, she established Roraima Airways and its subsidiaries and has since been Pilot, Finance Controller, and General Manager of the organization.

She attended ICAO Aviation Safety Oversight Program in Ecuador, Senior Management Development at the Consultative Association of Guyana Industries Inc. (CAGI) and numerous training programs in International Travel, ticketing and Reservation, acquiring extensive knowledge in the Tarex, GETS and Sabre Computerized Reservation Systems.She holds a Diploma in Business Management.

Captain Debra Gouveia served two terms as the President of the Guyana Association of Travel Agents, and is currently the Deputy Director of UFTAA for the Caribbean/Canada. She was the Operations Coordinator of the Search and Rescue contingent, Director on the Executive Council (IATA-BSP) and an Executive member of Guyana Public Sector Commission for four years.

Captain Gouveia is an off-road driving and cycling enthusiast.
